In My Free Time I Am:
Teaching
For the past few years I have been volunteering for Junior Achievement, the largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their futures, and make smart academic and economic choices. Currently, I teach 3rd graders each Tuesday for 8 weeks out of the year. They learn about how different businesses function, world trade, and economic principles. The program starts in kindergarten and plays out all the way until senior year of high school. In this time, students learn life skills that will help them transition into their future careers. At the end, we have a party to celebrate their success, something I try to do with all of my teams, big and small.
Public Speaking
My greatest career accomplishment in 2018 was speaking in front of 1200 people at a National Conference for disabled children. When I am not working on designs, I enjoy volunteering in both the digital and real worlds. My favorite volunteer work has mostly been as an Arthritis Foundation Advocate. Through a Wordpress blog, a Shopify site and blog, a former YouTube channel, and Instagram, I have leveraged technology to form an online community, which has led me to some amazing experiences and build up my reputation. To date, I have done 6 public speaking engagements and have my eyes set on
TED talks, which I know I’ll do one day.
Mentoring
Three times a month I host an accountability group, where we focus on our core four goals and hold one another accountable. Additionally, I am a mentor for parents who have disabled children and leverage my experiences to help educate patients and their parents about varying scenarios. I distribute this information digitally, via my website, Instagram, former YouTube channel, and more. I am fortunate to be a direct partner with the National Arthritis Foundation, who has asked me several times to be a featured guest at conferences, kids camps, parent panels, exclusive banquets, advocacy board meetings, and more.
